Atlas Coffeehouse @ Bukit Timah; Singapore

So I met up with my friends and we all agreed to have brunch one Sunday, at this particular cafe called Atlas Coffeehouse along Bukit Timah Road/Duke's Road.

The look of the cafe is very modern-industrial, having a black accent wall on one side and large glass windows on another and expose pipes and what-not above. It felt like a place where you would sit down have (coffee or tea) either read a book or something or hangout with your friends and just chat until you decide you've been sitting indoors for a long time. Basically it's a younger more modern take on the kopitiams (traditional coffee shops) and traditional teahouses you would see around Singapore.

As for the food, it's a modern take on old traditional western homemade breakfast-brunch classics. The menu is small, making it easy to choose from and ensures that the food coming out from the kitchen with a boutique quality and taste. You also have the choice whether you want to pair your dish with coffee, tea, chocolate (hot or iced) or beer.

So after you decide on your order/s you just go up to the cashier, make your order/s, pay and get your queue number, go back to your table, sit and wait for your food to come. Easy, simple and convenient.

So on this visit I ordered the Matcha Waffles, which are basically plain waffles that are served with matcha caramel sauce and a scoop of matcha ice cream. As for a drink I opted for a glass of the cafe's Daily Iced Tea, which is freshly brewed black tea, shaken with fresh mint leaves and a splash of lemon.

Matcha Waffles; SGD 13.50

Daily Iced Tea; SGD 7.00

The Matcha Waffles were really good, just the right balance between light and heavy. The waffles were warm and crisp which was the nice contrast to the soft and cold scoop of matcha ice cream that came with the dish. The iced tea was also good, you could tell from the first sip that it is freshly made. It wasn't too sweet, too bitter or too sour, just the right amount of each, very refreshing!

Price wise Atlas Coffeehouse is very affordable. The most expensive thing on their menu is the Cereal Prawn Pasta which costs SGD 22.00; the cheapest thing on their menu would be the Earl Grey Waffles which costs SGD 12.50. Everything else is right in between. So for me Atlas Coffeehouse is definitely worth the visit and every cent I paid, and definitely worth another visit in the future!
