There's another, less well-known Hainanese Chicken Rice Stall in Maxwell called Heng Heng Hainanese Chicken Rice.
Heng Heng doesn't have the same following and long queues as Tian Tian and Ah Tai, but their Chicken Rice is still tasty and traditionally made. Plus the owner is friendly too.
The Menu |
Hainanese Chicken Rice; SGD 4.00 |
Juicy, cold, savoury, tasty steamed chicken! |
The rice is a bit different. It's still cooked in chicken broth, a little less fragrant but still very tasty.
I was also given a bowl of hot soup. It wasn't clear soup, but still it was still comfortable to the tummy and felt healthy, being less salty.
Fragrant fragrant rice! |
For Heng Heng's chicken rice, the rice nor the chicken is the star, the entire dish is the star! The chicken and the rice have to be eaten together to enjoy the delightful taste and flavour that chicken rice is known for.
I liked the Chicken Rice at Heng Heng. It resonated with me a lot more; having that "home-cooked" vibe, mainly because of how friendly the owner was, he even greeted me with a smiled, when I ordered.
*Total For My Meal: SGD 4.00
